Three years ago, Advocates for Children and Youth identified cost-effective, proven reforms to improve outcomes for children and families in Maryland. We secured endorsements from hundreds of influential people and organizations across the State. Because of the support of these endorsers and with the help of key decision makers, the Maryland Can Do Better for Children campaign achieved many successes. There is cause for celebration.
But much more work is needed. Given the economy and the State’s fiscal situation, Maryland’s government needs to act even smarter, terminate dysfunctional programs and invest in services that build the long term capacity of families and communities to help themselves. ACY has identified new policy priorities to build upon recent successes in the current environment.
